My great nephew finally arrived!!! WAHOOOOOO! Little Cannoli. awwww so sweet. Work is good...am busy as ever. Have started crocheting a shawl for myself. Using my own pattern. I am using yarn I ordered from handpainted yarns. So pretty. The color is alpine. it looks like my faded jeans. Full of dark blues - whites. Very nice. I will post a picture soon. The secret object in my last post was a LOOM! A lovely Kromsky rigid heddle loom. So pretty..just waiting for someone to string her up...hmmm imagine the disappointment of people when they type that phrase into a search and come across Little Cannoli!!! Oh YEA babeee...hopefully I get a spot in Habu Textiles weaving class...keep your fingers crossed for me. I attempted to register too late! The last spot had just been sold..RATS. All, Yep, yet another baby blanket!! This one is pretty cool. I came up with this one myself. I only have to do a few more rows of the edge and it will be done. here is a close up of the rows... All, Nothing to report really...it has been busy at work, but we don't talk about work here. I am on vacation this week, so I am working on a new idea for a baby blanket. I may get it done if Lola Bird gets off my lap and hands..argh...she must be the center of attention. My niece is due any day now...poppin' fresh she is!!! This is Lola-bird with her best..Mommy don't type please play with me!! I refinished an end table that my darling daughter spilled nail polish remover on..argh. It looks pretty cool. We did go into NY to see a Flamenco show. It was pretty durn good. It makes me homesick it does!! Here is Ms. Ris with the guitarist... I think she enjoyed the show! Yep finished the fluffy, fuzzy totally swingy scarfy thing! Wahoooo...as predicted a certain Ris lifted it off the hook before I could run around in circles doing the "I FINISHED" dance...hmpf. Awwww there is the Ris with her friend. The lovely swingy thing draped around and ready to rock. Introducing Pointy Sisters!!! I know it is about time. I just needed a little inspiration. A co-worker was having trouble with her baby blanket and that just started me off. It is a pretty easy pattern, and should look great once it is done. My daughter has claimed it! She said she will wear it around her waist. A falcon family has a nest on the building where I work. It is amazing how quickly the chicks grow. Less than a week ago they were yellow downy critters that would fall asleep right after eating. Now they are stretching their wings. They do not go near the edge of the building ledge. Betcha didn't know there are falcons living in NY City. The cool part is you can see them flying around from certain client rooms. What a great city this is! Today was the kick off of the River to River festivals. Everyday there is something going on in the city. I've tons of yarn people...tons of ideas, but no idea where to begin! I am suffering from Fiber Block...ewww that sounds really horrible!! hahaha! Every once in a while I can't decide what to start. I am looking around blog world for inspiration. So many talented bloggers out there. How do you all do it? Work, family and still you create. I think it is work related stress...that's all I am saying about that. I have to get myself on track there are babies coming and birthdays...xmas!! I've got to get a move on. well at least the garden is enjoying my extra weeding and tending. Maybe this blockage is a good thing. Here is a picture of Princess S at her 1st Birthday. The lovely auntie holding her is my sister the Artist. The Artist and I have a lot in common. We both love museums, traveling, and exploring the city. We are peas in the pod. My other sisters are terrific as is my brother, Dad to Princess S. We are a pretty tight group. My mom taught me how to crochet when I was a tiny thing...I think she taught me so I would stay out of her hair for a while...poor mom! Mom was a master at creating Halloween costumes out of ordinary things. No plastic masks for us. I remember being a gypsy, a country singer, a 50s style girl and my favorite a flamenco dancer. In the summer we spent a lot of time in the library and the zoo. We spent so much time at the Bklyn. Botanical Gardens we knew the security guards by name. The Brooklyn Museum was our home away from home. So many great memories. With that Happy Mother's day to all of you out there. Spend time with your children and give them...

Hello! My DH's bday was Sunday. So we had a nice bbq with his brother and their family. It was really nice weather and it was lots of fun to see everyone. Burgers and hotdogs were delish! Here is Hubby with his great niece Princess D...awww. He was very surprised, but he did say he thought something was up when I didn't ask for a ride to the LYS! hahahaha Here we have the back 40..tomatoes, basil and lettuce in the rectangular planter and in big round clay planter we have lettuce. The barrel in the background holds my herbs. We will see how long before we can harvest (HEEHEE.) Yep I am very envious of knitters who live on farms!! Now a pretty picture..Yarn!! A bargain at a buck a skein. Thank you Michaels. For now am still working on baby blankets, but am almost done. Next, a hawaiian style dress for a sweet 16 my daughter is going to. fun, fun, fun. Finally Friday...It is really Friday! This was the longest day in my life. Oh hecky yes I really didn't think I'd get through the week. Enough moaning! Mr. Postman, my favorite man in the world, brought some beautiful yarn to the cottage on S.I. I think I will set myself up with some delish Margaritas and start working on a new shawl. Is it for me or maybe a Christmas present...well time will tell! Here is the very delicate icy yarn draped over my dining room chair waiting to be rolled up. The yarn is so soft I can not wait to start in...oh boy! Good thing the Lola Monster isn't around...she loves to snatch yarn and run around like a maniac. It was a great weekend. We took a ride to PA to tidy up the place we are selling. It is incredible how many deer are running around looking for a handout. Got some car knitting done. I finished a shawl that has been begging for attention. I think it looks pretty cool! I used a stockinette doing a knitted row on the purl side every so often and a pretty fan crochet edging. Nice warm alpaaaaaaca was used. The yarn is called Grinasco and it is from Italy. The color is berry. I am going to go pick up a fushia for the front porch. Have a great day! Marie

I gifted one of the star blankets I made for my new great niece (or nephew) The lovely Princess D cuddled it and forgot that Great Auntie had already given her a star blanket when she was a little sprout. So adorable can auntie really say no to her..of course not!! Now I have one more blanket to go and I can start on something new. Here is the lovely Princess D with her fave Auntie! I'll be posting pictures of the garden. I've put out my tomatoes and herbs...I think it may be cold, but I'll cover them over with some coke bottles..we'll see if they survive! I finished one baby blanket. It was a nice quick crochet all done while sitting out on the stoop in the sun. I could get use to staying home...it wouldn't be a good idea though, I would run out of cash pretty durn quick with my stash enhancement addiction. Now should I do another star blanket in a different color or something fancier. decisions, decisions! Today I may either get my hair cut or go into the City. I have a hankering for some clam chowder from the oyster bar...mmmmm drool! I picked up a really cool pattern for a 194os suit. I want to visit a fabric store for ideas. I've had the chance to watch the dog whisperer on tv. That stuff really works. Lola the killer dog was good as gold yesterday! There may be some hope of training the beast! yeeeeha! I love this time of year. Busy season is over! I can take time off from work. Start a new knitting or crochet project, and start thinking about summer vacation. My most favorite thing though is to go down to Great Kills and see the sunset. Every sunset is more beautiful than the last. The geese and ducks are coming back from where ever it is that they go. Songs birds whose name I don't know are fluttering around looking for a place to roost for the night. Lady bugs are all over the place. Music floats over to me from the boats that are anchored in the marina. Kids are riding their bikes and moms are looking forward to the little ones falling off to sleep after all the fresh air. Life is most certainly fine! La Boheme was excellent! My daughter liked the end the best...hmmm. Enjoy the picture!

Welcome to my new home! Yep, I finally did it! I am finally opening up my head for the world to see...I am soooo sorry! I love knitting (though I really, really stink at it) crocheting, I've been known to make a cute baby blanket now and then. I also love to take pictures. I hope to share some with you all. I have a pack of dogs. The monster of the pack is Lola. She steals yarn, hooks, needles, and gummy bears. The other mutts are pretty harmless. Gardening is fun too...There are tons of daffodils in the yard this year. The tulips are gone though. A family of chipmunks ate them last year. Kids, yep I've got two. One is a chef in Boston. The other is in high school and is driving me insane. I guess that is her job. I will be bringing her into the city tonight for a special torture um treat, we'll be seeing La Boheme.
